Covid19 (Updates as of 15/12/21)

We are still following our Covid19 Plan. We are still taking temperatures at the door of the children, getting parents to drop off and pick up at the door with their children. If we let parents in for a special occasion we are asking them to QR Code in, wear a mask and no siblings entering the kinder.

Golden Square Kindergarten Covid19 Plan

Covid19 (Updated as of 16/2/2021)

The information below on our safety precautions around Covid19 safety procedures undertaken at Golden Square Kindergarten can be found in our Coronavirus Policy. The following is extracts from our Coronavirus Policy:

Expectations on Entry:

What is our Policy around attending Golden Square Kindergarten:

  • Parents/carers and staff who feel unwell must stay at home, get tested and not attend an early childhood service to help reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus (COVID-19) in ECEC settings.

Please keep your child home if they are displaying any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever

  • Chills or sweats

  • Cough

  • Sore throat

  • Shortness of breath

  • Runny nose

  • Loss of sense of smell or taste

Staff who exhibit these symptoms are also not to attend an early childhood service.

In certain circumstances headache, muscle soreness, stuffy nose, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea may also be considered.

If your child is displaying any of the symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), however mild, are encouraged to seek the advice of a healthcare professional who can advise on next steps

You can phone the coronavirus (COVID-19) hotline on 1800 675 398 for help and advice.

Parents will be asked to collect children who have the above symptoms.

Arrival & Departure

Children will have their temperature checked by educators

Accompanying parent will be asked to answer 4 questions:

  1. Have you or your family been in contact with anyone with COVID-19?

  2. Is anyone in your family experiencing any of the above symptoms?

  3. Does your child have any of the above symptoms?

  4. Have you given your child any medication?

Only educators and kindergarten children to enter the centre is our preference. Parents can enter in special circumstances as organised with Educators. This is changing weekly due to the new changes updated weekly by the Victorian Government. Educators will collect children from the car (if parents phone kinder) or meet children at the front door. Physically distancing applies and hand sanitiser is available at the gate.

We will communicate any changes to this policy as and when we are advised.

Implement effective hygiene process

The coronavirus is most likely to spread from person-to-person through:

  • direct close contact with a person while they are infectious

  • close contact with a person with a confirmed infection who coughs or sneezes

  • touching objects or surfaces like door handles or tables contaminated from a cough or sneeze from a person with a confirmed infection, and then touching your mouth or face.

Employees and volunteers will ensure they continue to implement hygiene processes outlined in the Health, Hygiene and Safe Food Policy to ensure high standards of hygiene and infection control at all times. This includes ensuring children:

  • wash hands frequently with soap and water including before and after eating or handling food, going to the toilet, changing a nappy, handling play dough, using gloves, and after wiping or touching nose and cleaning up spills of body fluids

  • cough and sneeze into their inner elbow, or use a tissue to cover their mouth and nose and placing tissues in the bin immediately after use

If using alcohol-based hand sanitiser in place of soap it will contain 60-80% alcohol and antibacterial soap/gel will never be used.

In addition, the Approved Provider and Nominated Supervisor will ensure cleaning requirements are documented and completed regularly, and cleaning staff, including contracted cleaning staff, implement the precautions outlined in the ‘Information for Employers’ Sheet including:

  • wearing gloves and using alcohol-based hand sanitiser before and after wearing gloves

  • wearing surgical masks if person with the virus or in isolation has been in the area being cleaned.
